Makweti Safari Lodge is situated in the Waterberg area of the Limpopo Province on the Welgevonden Private Reserve, South Africa. The 37 000 hectare Welgvonden Private Reserve is home to a diverse range of African wildlife including Lion, Elephant and Brown Hyena.
The Welgevonden Private Reserve in Limpopo is also home to the largest number of rare White Rhino on a private reserve. Guests can easily access Makweti Safari Lodge from Johannesburg. The drive will take about 3 hours depending on traffic. Alternatively, transfers to Makweti Safari Lodge and back to Johannesburg can be arrange on request.

From Johannesburg
From Johannesburg, take the N1 north past Midrand. Continue on the N1 at the N1 / R28 spit towards Polokwane (previously Pietersburg). Continue past Pretoria and through the toll gate. Drive through the Carousel Toll Gate past the Warmbaths (Bela Bela) turn off. Continue along this road until you reach approach the Kranskop Toll Gate.
Stay in the left lane and take the turn off towards Modimole (previously Nylstroom). The road is the R33. Please contact Makweti Safari Lodge at this point to inform them of your progress. If there is no answer, please leave a message with your contact details and time of your call.
Drive straight through Modimole on the R33 towards Vaalwater. Vaalwater is about 60km (37.28 miles) away. continue straight through Vaalwater and pass the Total filling station and Spar located on the left hand side just outside Vaalwater.
Travel along this road for about 23km (14.29 miles) and pass the sign indicating access to the Welgevonden East Gate. The Welgevonden Main Gate is situated on the left hand side of the road pass the East Gate sign. A Makweti Safari Lodge will met you at the main gate where you will leave your car parked in the secure area.
